Vegan Look: Japanese Jacket | Matt&Nat and Bahatika

Hey guys!
As you may know already, I lived in Japan for six months during my third year of university as an exchange programme. To be honest, I remember didn’t mind so much where I went, as long as it was in Tokyo! I came back to Europe totally in love with that place, and every spring I see the cherry blossom season and I just die a little inside because it’s so beautiful it makes me want to cry! (I know, I know, cheesy as it can get but, come on, aren’t cherry trees stunning?)
So this is what this jacket reminds me of. It’s got the sakura flowers, the green, the black, and I’m so proud every time I wear it because it reminds me of all the efforts I made a long time ago to learn Japanese and now being able to more or less speak it makes me so happy!

These shots were taken in Parc, a tube stop in Brussels very close to the Royal Palace, if you’ve ever been. If you haven’t been to Brussels then please come, you’re missing out on the best chips of your life! But regardless of greasy topics, I can confidently say that I have fallen also in love with this little Matt&Nat bag and these Bahatika trainers.

I already spoke about Bahatika in this article, so I’m not going to go into too much detail. I will just say that I have been wearing them non stop because they are so comfortable and they go with so many outfits!

Vegan Look: Khaki Suede | Bourgeois Boheme, Votch, Matt&Nat

Photography by Noémie K.
Hey guys!
Hope you’re all having a good week so far. I’ve been quite busy over here, so I know that it’s boiling out here in London but I still want to show you these gorgeous shots taken by my talented friend Noémie.

I was back in Belgium recently, and called her to shoot a couple of vegan outfits for the blog. We’ve actually worked together several times in the past, but I couldn’t help but brag about her incredible photography skills… She gave me some serious equipment-envy (can you blame me though?)

So I decided to wear this khaki faux-suede jacket from Zara (I’ve seen a couple of people with the same jacket and it drives me crazy! I hate seeing people with the same stuff as me), along with a grey denim shirt that I got in Japan three years ago, skinny black jeans and some vegan accessories.
I’ve already wore by Bourgeois Boheme Grace boots in this and this blog posts. Bourgeois Boheme is a Peta-approved vegan brand that specialises in innovative, cruelty-free and environmentally-friendly shoes. These boots are made with microfibre PU (the best kind of eco vegan leather), breathable seed-based linings and comfortable latex insoles. On top of it all, they are handmade in Portugal and they are super stylish!
You will also have noticed my Matt&Natt Scarlett cross-body bag. I also wore it here, but I love it for the weekends! I tend to choose hold-all kind of bags, since I love carrying all my stuff in one place, but this one is perfect for the little bits and bobs when you pop into the grocery store. Matt & Nat make vegan and eco-friendly bags. All of their bags have recycled plastic bottle linings and I can confidently say that every vegan has at least one bag of them in their closet!
I absolutely love my Votch watch too. This one is the classic model in black and gold, but they have so many other colours as well. Whatever your heart desires!
Hoping you all liked this outfit, I wish you a gorgeous day!

How To Look Amazing When You Feel Far From It

I know you are probably laughing at the title of this blog post. But let’s face it. Don’t we all have those days when hair is dirty, we have spots on our face, we haven’t been eating healthy for a while and can’t be bothered to work out? I know I do! So how on earth are we supposed to look amazing when, in fact, we’re feeling far from amazing?

I’m no expert by any means, but here are some tips I thought I’d share with you to give you that boost of confidence when you feel like your body is not coping with your mood. They work for me, but they might not work for you. So read along and tell me in the comments if you do any of these!

1. Treat your skin

Make a habit of washing your face and to treat it well. I know that if my skin is not looking too well, it will bring my confidence down and I will probably cake my face with make-up (which only makes it worse, I know). So one of the best things you can do for the skin is to go make-up free, eat well, work out (as this will release toxins from your body) and use your best facial products. You only need a couple of days until your skin starts breathing again!

2. Pimp up your sleep routine

Get some new pyjamas or get a massive pamper session, up to you. But what I’m trying to say is that little things make us feel better than a good night’s sleep. I take my showers at night, so if I’m feeling a bit down, I would probably do a whole pamper session with an exfoliator, moisturiser, and maybe even paint my toe nails before going to bed! Anything to keep my mind off what’s stressing me and to feel a little more beautiful.

3. Wear that garment that suits you like a glove

Don’t you love it when you’re wearing an outfit that is comfortable and makes you feel like you’re wearing what suits you best? Obviously you should always feel comfortable and confident in the way you’re dressed, but I think it’s nice sometimes to pull out that flattering skirt, dress or shirt and receive some compliments for them! Think about it this way: the way you dress affects your psychological state as well 🙂
Whether you haven’t had enough sleep, you have a cold or just a horrible hangover, I hope these tips will help you for those days when you roll out of bed and think you look like crap. And if that day you can’t stay home and eat your chips and Netflix (which I am more than guilty of), you fake your way out with these tips which I’ve just shared. Just remember than a little self-care and some TLC can go a long way!

3 Tips To Stay More Focused

Hi guys!

So lately I’ve been struggling a bit on how to keep myself focused when I want to finish doing one thing, and I just wanted to share some tips and tricks I’ve learned over the past couple of months with any of you who might be struggling with constant social media checking or just not being able to finish what you wanted to do (people like me who practically sleep with their phones in hand).

1. Get social media out of the way
It’s Friday morning, I sit down at my desk and think about all the things I need to do. What can I do to make it a productive day? I usually wake up and check all my e-mails, Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp notifications, and then move on to Instagram (this one is probably the worst for me, since I now have many more notifications than I used to and I like to see who exactly has liked what, who has commented what, and who has posted what). Let’s just say that every morning is a moment of information bombardment, and I realise that if it’s a constant habit you have – be it healthy or not – you might as well count it in your every day “getting ready” routine.
Say, if you take 15min every morning to check all your e-mails, then make sure you set the alarm at a time where you can finish being up to date with everything before you leave the door. I find that one of the worst things I do is walk around London still checking my social media.
No.
Get that all done at home and then focus on the road while you walk. You don’t know if one day you’ll fall over or someone will steal your phone from your hands! And then your day is ruined, so
SOCIAL MEDIA, CHECK.

2. It’s time to focus

I guess there are different views on what is important and what’s not, so you have to know what you need to get done that day rather than what you would actually like to do (I wish!). Maybe you check your dairy to know what you need to do, and if you have a lot to do on your list, it’s ok, you don’t have to do it all today.
Just try sticking with the most important tasks and try to focus on them for 20-25min with no distractions. Turns our that most people can give pure concentration to a task for between that time, with the most ambitious aiming at 45min. Drink some water, coffee, tea or your green smoothie, but make sure that you can keep concentrated for that amount of time with no distractions. Take 5min breaks to stand up and have a small little walk, go to the bathroom, listen to a song, or check your personal messages (as I know we all have those family WhatsApp groups that just keep on ringing all day!). But then get back to what you need to do with your phone upside down.

3. Track your progress

Nothing feels more rewarding than seeing your work paying off. But in order for work to pay off, I would suggest to keep track of it and realise if there is something you’re particularly good at or if there is anything that needs improving. We are our own best advocates after all, so be critical with yourself and check what is it that you like to do and you don’t.

Take a moment, breathe, write down any ideas that you may have swimming around in your head and turn off all email notifications that may distract you. Write down all your successes and remember the failures (no one wants to see on paper what we dislike about ourselves). But keep those in mind for whenever you are doing anything! If you are not disciplined, you may not get to where you want to be in the end!

For instance, multi-tasking is my greatest strength but also my greatest weakness. I love doing many things at the same time and I am quite fast in ticking them. However I often don’t realise how much more complicated and time-consuming some tasks some be, and that’s when I leave them half done and I shouldn’t.

And you? Do you have any other tips to stay more focused? Please do let me know!

Vegan Look: Pyjama Shirt and Matt&Nat bag

Hi guys!

I am publishing this blog post all the way from Spain, where I am originally from and spending some time with my big family. I have to admit that I took these pictures a little while ago, but I’ve got so much content it’s hard to schedule everything sometimes! (#thestruggleisreal). If you want to see some daily uploading, don’t forget to check out my Instagram at @marta_canga.

Here is a flash blog post from an outfit I recently wore in Belgium. As you may know already, I was actually born and raised there and so my parents live there. I try to travel back to Brussels once a month. I love going back though, as I’m always welcomed by my small room where this blog started, my lovely family dog, and very enthusiastic parents that I am incredibly grateful for having (Apart from the fact that I love hearing the strong Belgian accent that I miss from time to time!).
This time, I was super happy to go to Brussels for an entire week, so I had a little more time to spend perfecting blog posts, images, trying skincare products, and obviously… To walk around in the sunshine!
Spring has finally sprung.

Say hello to my new Matt&Nat bag, that I showed you in my vegan bag wishlist here. Matt&Nat is a brand that I discovered when I was transitioning into a vegan closet. They have many resellers in the UK, but I must admit that buying online is the best option for me, as they have so many different models and colours…! This is the Scarlett model, and it’s an eco-friendly and vegan bag, and its lining is made out of 100% recycled plastic bottles.

I wore it with my beloved Olivia loafers from Bourgeois Boheme, which I talked about here and here, and an all-black everything outfit, that may have been a little too hot for the day!

I hope you like this outfit, and see you on Wednesday for another blogpost!
